Mikenna is my brother’s neice, so I think that make us family in some way or at least I hope it does! She is one of the sweetest and loveliest human beings I have known and I truly enjoyed photographing her. In my time with Mikenna I learned that when your subject has amazing skin and an endlessly happy disposition you cannot take a bad picture. I have 100 finals of her and love them all! What you see below is truly a random assortment of my favorites. Thanks, Mikenna, for being so fun to photograph. You just set the bar really high.

Look at how beautiful this little creature is! Unbelievable. I know I talk about how much I love to photograph high school seniors and weddings, bla bla bla….but babies! Oh I really love to photograph babies. They are seriously magical. This little lady completely charmed me. Look at that skin…and the fuzzy hair! I love it. Her parents are wonderful too. They are quite a lovely young family.

2011 has been the year of the family portrait for me. I’ll be honest…the biggest challenge is getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time! Even so, I have had some really fun times capturing everyone all together and getting silly with the little ones. These lovely people happen to be friends of mine. I know, I’m so lucky! The lollipops mommy, Andrea, brought are a pretty good representation of them as people - super sweet, eye-catching and colorful!

Did I mention that I really love to shoot senior portraits? Because I totally do! I meet the most awesome kids and always really enjoy their individuality. Plus they hold still much better than the little ones I often photograph. The other part that I love is getting to play with the backgrounds/lighting/locations so much more and creating lovely images, which is of course my favorite thing to do!

This year’s dog wash was a hot one! I think the dogs really appreciated their cool baths and a good time was had by all. I’m really happy with how their “doggy head shots” turned out and even happier to have raised some funds for other pouches in need.

This Saturday from 12-4 I will be at the Tyranena Brewery taking pooch portraits like these. Bring your dog for a bath, then a photo and get a beer for yourself! All proceeds go to the Humane Society of Jefferson County.

This is my most overdue post ever…sorry for the delay! I have been mostly unplugged and instead tuned in to my new baby girl these past few months. I have photographed her copiously, but haven’t had the time to post until today! Being a mother of two is awesome and challenging and keeps me in a little bubble most days. Coralie has been the most incredible baby. She amazes me always and has a never ending smile that everyone adores. Here she is back in frigid January.

Spring at last!

It has been a long, cold and snowy Winter, but at long last Spring is here! The delicate little flowers that are emerging from the recently frozen ground are such a refreshing sight. Some of the trees are even starting to bud!
